Welcome to supameet.in ("Supameet", "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our website at supameet.in and our mobile application (collectively, the "Service").

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information to provide our Service:

  • Session Identifiers: We generate a random session ID stored in your browser's local storage. This is not linked to any personal identity.
  • Location Data: If you grant permission, we collect your approximate location (latitude and longitude) to connect you with nearby users. Location data is stored with your session and removed when your session expires.
  • Display Name & Avatar: You may choose a display name. If you do not, a random name is generated. Avatars are auto-generated from your name — we do not collect photos unless you voluntarily upload a profile picture.
  • Profile Picture: If you choose to upload a profile picture, it is stored and associated with your session.
  • Chat Preferences: Preferences such as gender, age range, and purpose filters you select are stored locally in your browser and sent to our servers only to facilitate matching.
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics data (e.g., page views, feature usage) via Google Analytics to improve our Service.
  • WebRTC Connection Data: During video/audio calls, peer-to-peer connection metadata (ICE candidates, SDP offers/answers) is exchanged through our signaling server. We do not record or store audio/video streams.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Connect you with other users based on your location and preferences.
  • Facilitate real-time text, audio, and video communication.
  • Display nearby users on the platform.
  • Maintain and improve the Service's performance and reliability.
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or fraudulent activity.
  • Generate anonymous, aggregated statistics about platform usage.

4. Data Storage & Retention

  • Session Data: Your session profile (name, location, preferences) is stored in our database (hosted on Supabase). Inactive sessions are automatically cleaned up.
  • Chat Messages: Text messages exchanged during a chat session are not permanently stored on our servers. Messages exist only for the duration of the active session.
  • Audio/Video: We do not record, store, or monitor any audio or video calls. All media is transmitted peer-to-peer via WebRTC.
  • Local Storage: Your session ID, preferences, and certain UI state are stored in your browser's local storage. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

5. Peer-to-Peer Communication

Supameet uses WebRTC technology for video and audio calls. This means media streams (video and audio) are transmitted directly between you and the other user (peer-to-peer) and do not pass through our servers. Our servers only facilitate the initial connection (signaling). A TURN relay server may be used when direct peer-to-peer connections are not possible, but we do not inspect or store the relayed media data.

Supameet does not use traditional cookies for session management. Instead, we use your browser's local storage to store your session ID and preferences. Third-party services (such as Google Analytics and advertising partners) may set their own cookies. You can control cookie behavior through your browser settings.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

  • When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Supameet, our users, or the public.
  • With third-party service providers who assist in operating our Service (as listed above), under strict data processing agreements.

Our Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request information about the data we hold about your session.
  • Deletion: Clear your local storage to remove all locally stored data. Session data on our servers is automatically removed when sessions expire.
  • Opt-out of Location: Deny location permissions in your browser to prevent location data collection.
  • Ghost Mode: Enable Ghost Mode to hide your profile from other users while still being able to browse.
  • Block Users: Block specific users to prevent them from contacting you.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.
  • WebRTC DTLS-SRTP encryption for all peer-to-peer media streams.
  • Time-limited TURN server credentials using HMAC-SHA1.
  • No permanent storage of chat messages or media content.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
